Nia Dance

Gerry Timmins – Nia Dance Teacher

My name is Gerry (short for Geraldine) and I’m a Nia Dance Teacher.
I first experienced Nia Dance at a taster session and within a few steps, knew that i wanted to do much, much more!

I qualified at the first stage of training, the Nia White Belt, in January 2008 and started my first class in June of that year and have been teaching ever since.

In September 2009 I was lucky enough to take my Green (Teaching) belt with the co-creator of Nia, Carlos Rosas, which gave me so much inspiration that I’m now flying to Portland, Oregon to take the next level with him, my Blue Belt, in October of this year (2010)

I am also going to qualify in a separate Nia concept called the Nia 5 stages of healing with the other co-creator, Debbie Rosas Stewart, in July.

So you can see, exciting and challenging times ahead!

Nia has so many wonderful benefits, the promotion of flexibilty, agility, mobility, strength and stability are just the tip of the iceberg! The more I learn, the more excited I become. I also love the fact that people of all ages and fitness levels can take part in the same class, as Nia is done not only in The Body’s Way, but in Your Body’s Way, creating adaptability and freedom for the individual.

Some quotes from Nia students:
“I always feel better after a class”
“In Nia i move my body in ways that i  haven’t done for years”
“Wonderfull workout”
“Sometimes i feel emotional”
“I feel energised”
“I feel calmer and more able to deal with the problems in my life”

My classes are at the Therapy Workshop, Courtyard Clinic, Monday 6.30pm
