pilates @ the clinic
Pilates is taught at the Courtyard Clinic using the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) method. This is a form of dynamic stabilisation retraining that improves posture and movement patterns from the central core. This type of Pilates is designed especially for people who have had back pain or injuries or require specialist physiotherapy attention.
Our instructors, Jo Turner and Jo Beeston are both qualified physiotherapists and fully certified APPI instructors. Jo Turner is a presenter for the APPI training other physiotherapists to become Pilates instructors.
Classes take place in the new Therapy Workshop. We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes. The majority of these are mat based classes incorporating small equipment such as the swiss ball, theraband, ova ball and magic circle. We also offer power Pilates and ante and post-natal classes.
Individual or small group classes are also available.
Matwork classes require an initial screening session and must be booked and paid for term by term. Power Pilates classes may be attended on a drop-in basis but you must have previously attended matwork classes and achieved a sufficient level of proficiency with the Pilates method.
